Founder Of Khetri Vikas Samiti & An Architect of Institutions Under its Umbrella
Dr. B.L MEHARDA, a tireless worker and skilled administrator, is regarded as a true son of Mother India. Dr. B.L Meharda, born in 1943 in an ordinary family in Khetri tehsil of Jhunjhunu district, joined the Indian Navy at the age of 16 after completing the Higher Secondary examination. Demonstrating immense bravery during significant events such as the "Goa Liberation year 1961" and "India Pakistan War (1971)" while serving in the Indian Army, Dr. B.L Meharda. showcased remarkable courage and dedication.
Throughout his tenure in the Indian Navy, he pursued self-taught education, achieving both graduation and post-graduation degrees in History. Additionally, he honed his proficiency in painting from the School of Arts in Mumbai. After resigning from the Navy in 1972, Dr.B.L Meharda embarked on further studies, leading to their successful selection into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1973.
During training and subsequent postings, Dr. B.L Meharda actively facilitated the allocation of residential plots to underprivileged families in Hanumangarh, demonstrating exceptional administrative skills. Notably, Dr. B.L Meharda established Ambedkar Nagar, exemplifying his efficient administrative abilities and compassionate personality. Holding significant positions like Collector in various districts of Rajasthan, he exhibited exemplary administrative prowess across diverse departments, including the Medical and Health Department and the Sports and Youth Affairs Department. In recognition of his unique contributions, he was honored with the TPCO President Award and the India Gandhi Priyadarshini Award.
His pursuit of excellence led to the attainment of a doctorate degree in 1984 while in service, a testament to his unwavering hard work and dedication. He is also an accomplished author, having published the book "History and Culture of the Girasias." Despite holding a prominent position in government service, his commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged remained steadfast. Recognizing the plight of students in the Khetri area who had limited access to education, he took action. In 1986, he founded Vinodini Post Graduate College in Khetri. Subsequently, he established other colleges including Pharmacy, Engineering, Nursing, and Women's Post Graduate Colleges, tailored to the needs of students in the Khetri assembly constituency. The impact of these educational institutions is evident as graduates are now serving in various capacities, both nationally and internationally. His leadership has propelled progress and instilled a new consciousness among the community, a remarkable feat. Known for his qualities of coordination, affection, and cooperation, he embodies commendable human virtues.
